# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • They look impressive enough to serve at a dinner party but take only 15 minutes to assemble, which is basically a magic trick.
  • The contrast between creamy yogurt, juicy strawberries, and that satisfying granola crunch never gets old no matter how many times you make them.
  • Individual portions mean no dishes to fight over and everyone gets exactly what they want layered just so.
02 -
  • Assembling these more than an hour before serving is tempting but wrong—the granola will absorb moisture and turn into cereal by the time anyone eats it, which is a legitimate tragedy.
  • Shot glasses need to be clear because part of the appeal is seeing those beautiful layers, so opaque cups just don't have the same effect no matter how good it tastes.
03 -
  • Slightly underripe strawberries actually work better here because they hold their shape in the glass instead of becoming jam-like, so don't wait for them to be perfectly red.
  • If your granola tends to be dry, toss it lightly with a touch of honey before layering so it stays flavorful instead of tasting like cardboard.
