Homemade Air-Fryer Tortilla Chips (Printable)

Crispy golden tortilla chips made effortlessly with your air fryer. Perfectly seasoned and ready quickly.

# What you'll need:

→ Tortillas

01 - 6 small corn tortillas

→ Oil & Seasonings

02 - 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
03 - 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
04 - 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
05 - 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)

# Method:

01 - Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 2 minutes.
02 - Stack the tortillas and cut each into 6 triangular wedges using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
03 - Place tortilla wedges in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt, smoked paprika, and ground cumin. Toss thoroughly to coat evenly.
04 - Arrange the chips in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
05 - Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the chips are crispy and lightly golden.
06 - Transfer the chips to a wire rack or paper towel to cool. Allow them to crisp further as they cool.
07 - Serve with salsa, guacamole, or your preferred dipping sauce.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • They taste fresher and lighter than anything from a bag, with none of that heavy grease coating your fingers.
  • You control the seasoning completely, so every batch can match exactly what you're craving that day.
  • It takes less time than running to the store, and you probably already have everything you need.
  • The air fryer does all the work while you prep the dip or set the table.
02 -
  • Don't skip the single layer step, I learned this the hard way when my first batch came out half-crispy and half-chewy because I crammed too many in at once.
  • The chips continue crisping after you remove them, so pulling them out when they're just starting to color prevents burning and gives you that ideal crunch.
  • If you're using flour tortillas instead of corn, check them a minute or two earlier because they brown faster and can go from golden to overdone quickly.
03 -
  • Use a pizza cutter instead of a knife for faster, cleaner cuts, especially when you're working through a stack of tortillas.
  • Taste one chip from the first batch and adjust your seasoning before making the rest, it's easier to add more salt or spice than to fix an entire batch that's too bland.
  • Keep an eye on the chips during the last minute of cooking, air fryer models vary and that final minute is when they can go from perfect to burnt surprisingly fast.
